LIFFE
Abk. für London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange; erste europäische Börse für ⇡ Financial Futures, die 1982 gegründet wurde. Mit der Fusion von LIFFE und London Traded Option Market (LTOM) 1992 entstand die zu dieser Zeit drittgrößte Börse der Welt. Heute bietet die LIFFE die größte Produktpalette aller Terminbörsen an. Gehandelt werden Futures und Optionen in den fünf Hauptwährungen (US-Dollar, Euro, Britisches Pfund, Yen, Schweizer Franken) auf Rentenwerte, Geldmarktwerte, Aktien, Aktienindizes, Swaps und Waren. Bis 1999 wurde in London auf dem Parkett gehandelt. Erst als das Computersystem der ⇡ EUREX auch im ⇡ Bund Future größere Umsätze verbuchte, startete die LIFFE das Computernetz LIFFE-Connect und bietet somit auch eine hervorragende kostengünstige Handelsplattform. Umsatzstärkste Segmente sind kurzfristige Euro-Zinsfutures und Euro-Zinsoptionen (90 Prozent des Umsatzes weltweit). Im Jahr 2002 wurde die LIFFE von der paneuropäischen Börse ⇡ Euronext N.V. gekauft.
